Returning from a market, a photo from Greater Accra, South

Photographer's Note

You would not believe the abilities of Ghanaian women to carry huge loads on their heads, until you see it. This one was taken in the capital city of Accra.

It is not architecture, or sights, but people who are a highlight of any trip to that part of the world. But photographying people there can be very difficult - I was sitting on a porch overlooking a busy street, which helped me take this photo.

I don’t know what to think about this one. On one hand, I like the situation, the story it is telling - woman counting cash, returning from the market etc. On the other, I hate the ugly background and overall greyness of this one. I am curious to hear what all of you think?

Hello Pawel,
I like this detail of daily life you captured. Your POV, looking down from the porch, is nice, since we can see all of the items on the woman's head very nicely. It is true that the background is a bit dull, but that is the reality of this scene. Still, I tried to make the photo more vibrant in a workshop. I hope you like it. :-)

Your photo is a very good example of carring goods on the head. Very nifty!! I have been always wondering this phenomenon, a couple of times i have tried do do as they do....no success :-)
About background. If you dont like it you can change it! :-)

Hi PAwel, i like the natural expressions of the girls..
Rreally interesting moment you have captured!
you loose a bit of contrast perhaps, anyway good work!
