Hi, welcome to TE! I wonder what you dislike about the composition: the way the child leans to you is clearly seen - that is of importance.
I once had a chance to visit several orphanages in Moscow. The children are supplied with everything except mother's love...
Though on this photo: http://www.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/699526/f_736418.jpg - they look quite happy: we brought them some pop-group, the girl is scrutinizing their post-card, if I remember right.

Hi Leanne I like the eyes of this small girl because you can see inside all the sadness of the Africa for these little orphans (but they are happy) d you can see also the confidence towards you -

What a touching photo Leanne, quite sad really. You went over there to do what you could do, but you can leave the country when your time is up, not these little ones. I love how she is looking right into the camera with those beautiful dark eyes.

Meaningfull picture with a story behind. I also think the composition is very good,as well as focus and expressiond on girl's face.
