Photographer’s Note
This is a dassanech village. The dassanech are a seminomadic tribe originally from the Turkana lake region.
Just about a week after I was there due to unseasonal rains, the river OMO inundated the whole region including this village.

Hi Daniel,
To be honnest I do like the ambiance, but I don't feel the tilt was necessary, it is neither not enough nor too much, it does not bring anything to the image.
Sorry it does not work for me.

Hi Daniel,
I like this compo.
Don't know if the tilt was necessary, but I like the pic like that with the little child vertical on the left.
Nice.
JB.

Hi Daniel,
I guess these people haven't changed much over the years except perhaps some additional clothes. The tilt --- I am not so sure if it was necessary but then it does not take anything away from the essence of the picture.

somehow i agree with vince, bu6t on the other hand the tilt does not annoy me here (its simply unnecessary),
but, but - there is something mystic in this composition, something that makes me curious about the whole scene,
bottom line - i like this work,
j.

Salut Daniel,
J'aime particulièrement les couleurs de cette image. Le tilt n'apporte pas grand chose, mais j'ai lu ton explication à ce sujet et je comprends donc mieux la raison de celui-ci. Alors, pour une image photo je trouve que c'est très bien cadré!
Bon week-end.

Hi Daniel,
I like this one very much, some because of this basic colours and some because of the tilt. I don't know about the others, but I really like it here... now I see that many didn't like it... but like allways I won't take a part of the mainstream ;))
Have a nice weekend,
Tomi

What a great composition.
And tilting your camera gave a new deimension to the photo.
Well done!

Hi Daniel, if you have tilted it in order to have the whole huts in the frame I understand, otherwise I would be a bit sceptical, anyway the light and colors are great and the compo is also nice...
Cheers

Maybe the tilt wasn't necessary, but i don't know that that really has much relevance... i don't really see necessity as the root of photography anyways.
But beyond that, i like the mood of the picture. The dark sky where i would expect a bright blue sky seems an ominous indicator of the rain to come.
Thanks!

Hey Daniel,
not concerne at all wit the tilt, to me its fine, because for me the focus isnt on the village but the boy in front.
The conditions you describe give good reason for this yilt and the result is what you wanted: a spontaneous photo showing life in the village.

Hola Daniel,

Daniel, I'll disagree, the tilt is something new. Anyone can take a straight shot. It seems to add to the sense of motion. Anyway, great picture and note.

Hi Daniel, A beautiful shot with fantastic colours. I'm behind the tilt I must say as I feel the focus is on the boy and this way you have given him a good position in your frame (I like how he seems to have a little hairdo, with the twig from the hut) and you manage to have the huts in its entirety. The scene of women and children behind the boy is exquisite. Superb shot! Sabine

Hi Daniel
I love the tilt, very original.
the light and the details are also spot on.
A shame about the flooded village, does this happen often, and what happens to the people of the village? do they just start again somewhere else?
Harry
