Photographer’s Note
Main Street. The name of the town? Maybe I knew in 1976, I certainly don't know in 2006.
The gentleman on the left is very elegantly dressed - matching trousers, top and hat. Even his stick seems to show him as a person of style.
And who's carrying the heaviest burden of anyone in the photo? Surely it's the youngest person in the scene, the girl in the centre, standing straight and strong. Maybe it's her family's firewood for a few days or perhaps she does this to provide their income.

Hi Keith!
Great photo! I like the movement you created with this long file of walking people...But this scene is also a drama for me, because you took it in 1976 and I could bet that nothing has changed in this place (apart from the cars maybe). When I clicked on the thumbnail, I thought it was a recent shot from Africa...

Hello Keith. By the informative photo of the main street one gets view of the living conditions of the people of Aethopien. Aethopien is no classical tourist country. It astonishes however nevertheless, as poor the people are. Perhaps also the many wars led to the fact that the standard of living is so small. The photo is very good and worth seeing. Many greetings, Wolfgang.
