Photographer’s Note
This man wanted me to take his picture when he saw me photographing the brother and sister who's photo I posted a couple of days ago.
He was a friendly, good-natured chap, and I think that comes across here in the photo.
I've been experimenting with my black and white conversions lately, trying to get more of a film-like quality, a bit like Kodak Tri-X. I'm not sure how successful I've been, and I think the lesson is, if you want the B&W film look - er, shoot film!

hello ben,
expression is very interesting. touch of light creates another magic. i think emphasizing the eyes a bit more could work. very nice capture.

Great portrait, Ben, it has lots of character. I like the bl/w conversion, but of course you do have a point about the 'real' film look. There's no substitute.

Hi Ben,
Comes through the picture about what you write. We may see a kind chap really. The man's honest look speaks for itself. The composition nicely balanced, I like it the old-fashioned style of the photo. As if would not have prepared now, but in the seventies years. Splendid portrait. Tfs! Have a nice weekend!

Hey Ben,
The friendly good-nature does come across in the picture. I think it's an interesting portrait. Although I know what it's about, I don't really know if it's close to Tri-x effect but I like this grainy B&W conversion. The strong vignetting is interesting as well. I don't know if it's me but there seems to be a bit of a color cast here, right?
Cheers,
Philippe
