Photographer’s Note

The market at Turmi rassembles people from several neighboring tribes, mainly the Hammer. The Hammer are amongst the friendliest of the Southern Omo valley tribes, although the foreigner give me money syndrome is sill present.

The women are known for their mud-based hairstyling.

Another characteristic of the hammer is the very deep noise which they pronounce which sounds something like: "UUUIT UUUIT", almost bird-like.

Bonjour Daniel,
beaucoup d'expression dans le regard de cette femme éthiopienne. La couleur rouge qui prédomine ici est bien capturée et rendue. Le cadrage enserre parfaitment la scène.

Very, very beautiful. It shows a totally different culture but a real one anyway. I like the way she looking at you and also the way she has the cigarette. You have a very good composition and the colours are excellent. Well done.

Parti a la chasse aux gazelles je vois, joli duo, j'aime bien la mode vestimentaire, je verrais bien ca chez nous pour l'ete 2007 ;-)
L'expression de celle de droite est excellente, un regard intense et vrai, c'est lui qui fait ta photo et ta mise au point sur la dame est tres bonne, le rendu des couleus aussi. J'aime moins la deuxieme et l'evironnement moins net, je pense qu'il y a ou trop ou pas assez de bokeh. Mais bravo pour ce superbe portrait de la dame de droite !

what drew me so close to your shot was its incredible colour: as if a beautiful earthy cast had been lain over it. These people, so beautiful, are still so close to the earth, to nature, and this cast is just there to prove... a very nice shot with lovely tones, people, skin, hair... and the sound UUUIIT...:-)

Hola Daniel.

Su mirada parece orgullosa frente al extranjero que la observa desde el objetivo de su cámara de fotos.

El poder ver culturas que no son lejanas, costumbres ajenas y vidas que nos pueden resultar casi folklóricas, siempre nos puede resultar interesante.

Y aquí no hace falta decir porqué motivos.
