Hey Nana,
I like your image, but I think you might have gone a bit overboard on the Shadow/Highlight feature in photoshop. It created an almost out of this world feel.
Besides that, the image is very interesting. Great colors and it's very powerful with the boy looking directly at the camera with that emotion in his face.
Nice capture!

Hi Nana;
I have to agree with Brian. You have to be very carefull wih the shadow/ highlight function. The key to Post Production is to have it go un-noticed. Looking this image- it just seems obviously overdone to me. I know this may sound harsh, but I would recommend trying to get it right 'in-the-camera' first and relying less on Photoshop.
These days, many of my shots are actually taken using 'bracketing' (also available on the 350D), in which you can take 3 shots in quick succession and THEN you can choose the best of the 3 on the camera after.
Furthermore, I think shooting aperature priority (set to a low f/stop) would have have helped to make this boy stand out from the background a bit - adding depth to the image. The bracketing in this scenario would be 3 shots all at different shutter speeds but with the same f/stop.
I hope this helps,
- Dan

Hello Nana. Aethopien. A country with large difficulties. For most it is a strange country. Photos from this country help us to understand this country and its inhabitants better. Your photo is therefore very interesting. A few houses, goats and a cloudy sky. Then this boy without shoes with the military body attitude. And finally the most important detail, the house with the sign "I am a winner". I can only praise this authentic and journalistic picture. A good achievement, although the technical quality could be better. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Expressive...
its more than a picture .. its an expression itself.. the way the boy has got his lower lip hidden under the upper one is very expressive of his presence in the drama
Well done

Everything is perfect in this picture!
The boy, the goat giving us the back, the little shop with the two kids, the sedimentary rock so typical of this region and of course the sky, a beautyful cloudly sky.
great composition Nana!1

Hi Nana,
Beautiful .... I don't think the shadow highlight issue that you have discussed about this is overwhelming ... it mainly could just use a nudge more contrast to make up for it I think . Might be interesting to layer him
(and maybe a big of the foreground out from a slightly darker backdrop ..
I think this is tremendously effective. the way you have centered him creates this meditative .. angelic .. Medieval .. mystic .. feel to it that is pervasive and wondrous.
take care,
John

Hi Nana,
Fantastic shot! Almost surreal... The boy looking so serious to the camera, elevated on a rock, with his arms completely attached to his body, waiting to be taken by the camera... the goat, the little house with the sign "I am a winner", the children and those clouds...really amazing how you got that scene.... Congratulations Nana!

Hello Nana,
it is amazing picture with so many interesting details! I like its composition and angle. Thy sky adds to this shot little unreal effect but it suits to whole composition.

Nana
No joking. That could easily be a front cover of a book or a magazine. It's absolutely top class no doubt.
I also see you're not a novice to all PS tools. That's great as well.
Again, great job! Cheers!

Hello Nana! You created a very striking image here. The shadow/highlight tool helped create an almost 3-dimensional feel to this shot. It is a somewhat busy scene, but I like how the view converges to the centered boy.

and this one is a winner. I'm not sure what really does it here, is it the wide angle, the boy or the colours, I guess maybe it's the combination that you've captured here. Very nice.
