[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It is over 40 degrees celcius in Massawa this particular day. At this time of year Massawa, the most important Eritrean port at the Red Sea, is a sleepy town. Most people leave for the highlands in order to avoid the heat. Specially the nomadic Rashaida people. In the harbour very few boats where seen, this boy was running to repair a boat, he runs to avoid the sun. The scenery is amazing regardless of which direction you decide to look at. The red sea has a beautyful light blue colour and on the opposite direction the coastal range ends quiet abruptly giving birth to the highlnads.

Man, you really get to some off the beaten track countries. I kind of envy you for that.

This is an interesting photo. Technically, I wouldn't consider it great but it's not always the technicals that count. Theres alot going on and you composed the shot very well. I like the exposure and how the boy is almost a silhouette. I also like the rope and pole it is attached to in the lower right - don't know why but I think it sort of anchors that corner of the photo giving something to look at. The boy is a good focal point and his position in the frame with along with the boat coming in from the left makes a good looking daily life / street shot.

Great work.
John

I do like this from the perspective you've gotten it. Like the boat, particularly the age showing on it. And in particular I like that you caught this eagerly working guy with both feet off the ground.

I do though, at least on my monitor, think it loses a little bit to the over all levels of grey that make it bit hard to distinguish some of the foreground. I think I might have pushed it a little, but tried to do a workshop to bring out a little detail of the boat's hull and the area around his feet. Hope you don't mind.

Hi Rolando,
I like your choice of B&W here. The boat looks great and you have chosen a good POV which shows both of the boys feet off the ground, good moment.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hola Rolando,
anaines

Hi Rolando, you have here a really great composition, in BW works very good.
Cheers
Evan

rolando,

i never noticed this one before, but i really like it. you caught the boy at a great moment. only thing i would have done different is to crop out the thigie in the upper right corner. but cool pic, nevertheless.

take care!
