Photographer’s Note
Still in Banana Island. After having eaten the bananas and taken the shot I posted yesterday, I needed to see some of the hidden life that usually is not visited by tourists. So, I decided to explore a bit more to the interior of the island. As usual, I'm glad I did it. This was one of the street scenes I bumped in.
---------
Banana Island is a lush peninsula 4km upriver and a favoured destination in Luxor, for a lazy afternoon in a felucca. Although a bit touristic, it has a pleasant tropical atmosphere and it's enjoyable to wander through the cool, shady groves of mature banana trees, with their vaulting fronds and pendant flowers.

I like this very much. There is so much detail to take in and so many questions raised. Like: What is the boy doing with the rope? Did the woman already have her face covered or did she cover it when she saw you?
Very good light management too in difficult conditions.

Hello Ricardo
A most interesting daily life scene of Banana Island - an area of Luxor I had never heard of before. I am guessing it is an island in the Nile. Thanks for sharing, Marlene

Hi Ricardo,
A bit touristic? Man it's crowded with people. At least that was it when i was there the last time, but that's already a long time ago, maybe it's now more quiet?
Whatever...you have great light man, really warm tones mixed up with shadow parts and the boy in front is excellent placed in the sun. Light on the walls is also very beautiful...i like this part a lot.

What a difference in your two albums! Here you seemingly concentrate on the human element & daily life, which is similar in many ways to an easterner like me. The guys' wire seems to throw up dust which looks great against the falling rays of the sun. Is that why the lady in the BG cover her face? The facade of the house is also interesting, but unless you find the date palm on the right very interesting, maybe a crop by an inch on that side?! (I know I have been talking about crop a bit too much :-))
Friendly Regards

Bonsoir,

looking at this region of Nubia,i compare it with a scene from the period of Christ in Jerusalem, that we see in movies for His life.Earthy alleys and houses, shadows and this light, make the scene so atmospheric.Unfortunately, I could not walk in these narrow alleys of Nubia despite of, i saw them from far, at the duration of cruise that I made in Nile.Excellent presentation of the climate of the region.
Have a nice day,Danos

Hello Ricardo,
This is one the best images I've seen in the last few days. In the dry air in Egypt, you get such wonderful contrasts in light and shadows. The vivid colors and sharp resolution allow you to see the textures clearly. The dust that the young boy is kicking up — as he drags what appears to be a garden hose along the dusty ground — strikes a dramatic image against the sharp features of the photograph. Bravo!
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Ricardo,
The backlighting and the rising dust, gives a physical presence to the light here... it thickens the air, and that gives good depth to this interesting daily life scene.
Um abraço

Scene of life put well in image here and interesting which leaves the usual stereotypes… This light of end-of-day is well managed and gives a pleasant back-light. Well seen Ricardo.

This is very much like similar photos from Keribar or bantonbuju. Less graphism and more to the exploitation of light, so, i would say, it is more bantonbuju.
The light makes me jealous, the colors are great, and this is the presentation of atmosphere. Congrats,
