Photographer’s Note
An 18 years old image, lookin' the Giza Pyramids during the beginning of a sand storm.
Few minutes later the sky was totelly orange and pink thanks to the sand and the dust.
The vision of the pyramids was really hard from my position.

This is a particularly good scan Paolo. Love the simplicity of the composition. The dust storm adds a little something extra. Nice one.
Best wishes

Hello Paolo,
Best regards

Hi Paolo,
Interesting mixture of dust and grain of an older picture. And definitely timeless. If there are any signs of modern culture, they disappear on distance and dust. Magical colours.

A quite good scanning quality for this "oldie", Paolo. Impressive atmosphere conveyed by the sandstorm, and the way in which it filters the available light. Also good to have the people included, not least to convey the vast scale of these amazing and timeless structures.

ciao paolo,
one of the best non-postcardish takes on the pyramids i have seen, and that dust indeed makes this difference here...
love this work, my friend, for the uniqueness, for the vastness, for the "dustness"...
best wishes,
j.
(ps. would you like to e-mail me your phone number so that we meet while im in milano in few days time?)

Bonjour, mon ami Paolo,

Hi Paolo,
fantastic shot, though the right pyramid is very pixelized.
It illustrates that even the mightiest buikldings men has built vanish when nature gets angry. I love the catch of the little spots (People, camels?) in the tormentinmg sandstorm.

Bonjourno Paolo
Pretty good for an 18 year old scanned image! Good symmetry between the 2 pyramids & I like the tiny silhouetted fg figures which add scale. Some small technical problems aside, this is a great image. Ciao.

Ciao!!

Hi Paolo,
The sandstorm effect is quite effective in this well taken shot. Although you lost a little quality in the scan, the photo is amazingly effective in connoting the desert conditions. I like the way the pyramids blend right into the sand here, with a well chosen proportion of sky. Well captured, Paolo.

Hola Paolo:

I can't quite define what it is I like about this. There's no denying the years have told on the quality but those ancient structures are standing proudly against the blue sky while mayhem is being created around them by the blowing sand. I think it is an atmosphere you have captured.

hi paolo
age does not weary nor reduce detail and quality of the beauty to which you have captured. it is a timeless image, not a mirage, not a spectre of the desert but a testament to the eternity of the beliefs of men and their ingenuity to create. i can do nothing except congratulate you and thank you for sharing this with everyone.

Hello Paolo,
Fabulous shot of the Chephron Pyramid, with the Cheops just behind. The dust storm makes this picture especially interesting. I was once involved in mapping out the interior of the Chephron, using cosmic rays (muons) that can penetrate several hundred meters of bedrock, and accordingly I am very happy to see this image. Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Paolo - of course dust is the essential ingedient of egyptian (also indian) cuisine, even the bread would not taste the same without the dust :-), 18 year old image but quite nice quality, my fitrst trip alone was in that same year, (I went to "Yugoslavia"), I know we're the same age, I definitely was not adventurous enough to go to Egypt at the time.

the sand storm adds mistery to the whole image; and people define proportions/scale very effectively!

Fantastic shot here, Paolo! I love the lack of sharpness due to the sand storm (may be also from the scanned, but I couldn't tell ;-) The atmosphere is just great and the mirage of those two surreal piramids is spectacular. I really love this one!

I read somewhere: "Kings and kingdoms will come and go, time will come and go, but the pyramids will see it all." I like how in your image the pyramids seem to be challenging the elements. Beautiful capture,
