La felouque et le pont
La felouque est un bateau de 8 à 13 m de long, large de 3 m et dotée d’une voile latine. Aujourd’hui construite en fer, elle l’était hier en bois. D’origine méditerranéenne, la felouque a été adoptée sur le Nil dès le XVIe siècle. Elle est utilisée comme moyen de transport d’une rive à l’autre du Nil. Le pont haubané qui traverse le Nil juste après Assouan la concurrence maintenant sévèrement. Peu importe ! La felouque s’est reconvertie dans le tourisme.

The felouk and the bridge
The felouk is a boat from 8 to 13 m length, broad 3 m and equipped with a lateen sail. Today built with iron, it was yesterday made of wood. Of Mediterranean origin, the felouk was adopted on the Nile in the XVIe century. It is used as means of transport from one bank to another of the Nile. The stayed bridge which crosses the Nile, just after Aswan competition it. It does not matter! The felouk was reconverted into tourism.
