Kom Ombo Temple Photo

Photographer’s Note

Le temple de Kom Ombo dédié au dieu crocodile (Sobek) et à Horus est en fait un double temple qui se dresse sur un sommet un peu comme l'Acropole. Il a été entièrement reconstruit sous l'époque ptolémaïque. Il a donc double porte et double sanctuaire.
Ce temple était entouré d'une ville importante Ombo lors de sa construction au II ème siécle avant notre ère. De cette ville il ne reste aujourd'hui que le temple.

Hello Jacques, another great picture of this temple with the light creating a golden glow on the stone. Great detail and wonderful contrast against the blue sky.

A very clear image and the blue sky is fantastic. The Kom Ombo temple is a magical place which I've visited. The angle of view is great and you have drawn out the detail well.

It's really hard to find an original composition for these sorts of shots of ruins, Jacques, but you have succeeded with this one by under-exposing slightly to both bring out the detail on the columns and use the shadow areas at the bottom to frame the shot. The contrast against the deeply polarised sky gives it a lot of impact too. Cheers . . . David
