This is one of the first underwater photos i ever took, so will always be one of my favourites. It was taken at a depth of about 20 metres on Jackson Reef in the Tiran Straits off Sinai in Egypt. At 20 metres down, you lose a lot of colour, so most pictures look blue and grainy - specially if you don't have expensive equipment!! What i like most about this picture is how the colour of the bright orange anthias has been picked up by the flash. I think it looks great against the background of sea and coral. I know that "technically" it isn't a very good picture, but underwater photography is pretty difficult so i think i did OK for my first go!

Following advice and a workshop from a fellow trek earth user (richtersl), I have reposted this picture slightly larger than my original and after some slight modification in Photoshop Elements (i applied "Auto Levels"). Hope you like it!

Wow! This is gorgeous. It's good to see that you have reposted a bigger version. The colours are beautiful and the detail and sharpness is excellent. Very well captured!

Lovely image! Here in Holland is terribly hot those last days and I think I'll load your picture to get a "cool" screen, may I? :o)

Not really a main subject in this picture but the colours with the bright turquoise as background and the beautiful orange pattern of the fishes makes the whole veeeeeery attractive! Thank you for sharing Sarah...

Great photo Sarah! I love the 3-D effect with the fish in the foreground and the coral gradually fading away to the rear. The colours are fantastic.

Nice capture, Sarah! I´m also an u/w photographer and aldo dove Tiran. I´ve some photos posted, but most of them I have to scan. I love this "jewel fairy basslets" and I think they add nice colours and motion to the pictures. Well done!
All the best!
Zeca
