Photographer’s Note
This is at Giza, in Greater Cairo. In Egypt it is against the law to take a photograph of a police officer, unless he is with the tourist police. These are tourist police.
No, that is NOT a special frame on my photo, as with all my photos from Egypt and with some of my others you will see this frame.I develop and process my own black and white photos. When I use the enlarger, I, unlike many people, do not make the carrier tray cut off the excess, or whatever you want to call it. The frame you see there is actually part of the negative. I scan my photos onto the computer (which unfortunately causes slight fuzziness in my photos). As for the look of these Egypt photos I believe it is partly the way I took the photo there, partly how I develop it, and partly luck.

Excellent black and white, Griffin, and an image that could be from the 20s. Love the effect here.
[Just discovered your portfolio; I am going to take a close look now. I am impressed that you do your own darkroom work even now. You inspire me to do the same!]

I love the effect you have achieved here as well as the fact you have made the pyarmid just one part of the image, instead of being the main subject which I think most people would do with the pyramids.

Unique look to this, echoes of Lawrence of Arabia at its best. Superb processing - you know exactly what you're after. I salute you from Tokyo, Francis
