Photographer’s Note
My footprints in the sand at a remote sand dune location.
I went on a private safari with an Egyptian man from my hotel who offered to take me out there for a cheap price. When we reached the dunes, there was no one or nothing but sand to be seen all around. Problem was my guide had alterior motives... "we'll have to sleep together under the same blanket to keep warm tonight"....
But let's not worry about that and enjoy the sights of the untouched sand dunes! (is what I kept telling myself)
I ended up being polite and insisting I would sleep by myself in my sleeping bag until morning. That seemed to work.

Dear David,
everything is perfect here: the light, the shadows, the blue sky, the yellow sand, the footprints ...
Well done.

We're on the same tracks today david, but in MY dunes I did not have to sleep under the stars !
i'm puzzled with the colors, surprised that the sand looks so white yellow. Works quite well with the sky of course

LOL I would not have expected a guide to be that brazen considering the moral codes of the locals. Very nice composition, but the dunes are missing some highlight detail in the background. TFS

nice shot David, the light and colors are superb as usual, i would also consider a human presence in this shot, but still a very good one.

Hello David! How funny, so you had some problems in the desert :))) and could not enjoy the stars. I hope you slept well despite your guide. See what women go through sometimes ... I would have been up all night probably being scared that someone knocks on my sleeping bag. LOL. Beautiful picture with the rolling sand hills and the somehow pale seeming sky adding a special mood. Very nice indeed, thanks for sharing your story, this is travelling ... how poor it would be not to return with some little adventures in one way or the other. Take care, Barbara.

Hi Dave,
I think your guide wanted to "open" you to new experiences....or "open" something else of you!
anyhow a wonderful sight...endless...and contrasting...the warm enveloping yellow of the sand against the bright refreshing blue!

Hi David
I love the way the deep golden brown colour at the bottom right hand side really emphasises the pattern in the sand. How did you get to walk such a straight line, if it was me I would have zig zagged all the way :-) Wonderful soft effect in the background dunes and sky. Just beautiful.
Cheers

Ha! So glad to hear that worked :) ! Yikes! I think I would feel very panic-y in a place like this, lost and alone. A great photo!! Nice detail and beautiful warm tones. TFS

ja, ja, very funny story!!... luckily for you ended up as funny and not tragic.
Anyway, you took a nice photo fro this trip. Very beautiful landscape (sandscape?). Nice colors and contrast with the sky.
I feel however that there is too much noise reduction (didn't you?). I prefer the texture in the fg.
Good job, and I hope you learnt from the experience.
cheers

A good used of pattern and shapes in the composition while the blue sky is contrasting to the colors of sand. The footprints added interest in the image. Well composed.
