In Baharia, Egypt, I hired a driver to take me out to some isolated sand dunes. In winter the deserts have extraordinary skies.

Yellows and blues are perfect, contrasts are also sublime and then ripples in the sand are gorgeous - and the cloud formations are ok ;-). Maybe misses a human to sense scale, but a wonderful shot Dave.

Nice place with striking contrast indeed, I like the dynamic shape of the dune first going backward and then forward.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Davit, taht's simply wonderful. It would even be much better and natural if you didn't make post-process.

It calls the beauty of nature, thats colours are fantastic.....I'm agree with Jim, maybe inclusion human or something that easier to understand the scale. Anyway its a great shot David, like it....tfs

Hello David ,
So simple , but so beautiful ! And it is not so easy to realise this kind of picture so perfectly . The sky is amazing .

très graphique et hautement colorée, une photo qui montre peu et beaucoup à la fois. Netteté et précision dans la capture, un cadrage artistique.

Contrary to what Jim said, I think that to me a human would have spoiled the scene a bit. The shot has an awesome sense of emptiness, solitude and innocence, and being as empty as it is it's just perfect. If it wasn't for that condensation trail on the right, you'd think that this shot was taken in a world without people.
Wonderful colours and perfect composition, excellent sharpness.
Superb shot, thanks for sharing.

A long time since my last visit to your gallery but I am glad that I did not miss this beautiful scenery of the sand dune in Egypt. Very artistic composition using the lines and shapes of the sand dune to contrast superbly with the sky colors. A true light+shadow effect. Excellent work.

it was SNOWING in New York City this morning, so I'm looking for solace in photos like this :) love it, especially how the surve of the dune's edge create a sense of movement, as if the dune was spinning up in the sky. and what a sky, no wonder the soil wants to reach it. compositionally I might prefer more room for that sky to emphasise the feeling of wide open space. still, great shot.

Your sand dune photo's have been awesome. The detail you present in the surface of the sand and rich colours of yellow and blue are fantastic.
Waylim (25360) 2009-03-20 20:52
Blue and gold, a perfect complementary colors, excellent details and texture and pattern of the sand. the clouds seem to mimic the pattern of the sand. As much as I love this kind of cloud when taking photo, but in this case I rather like it to be just plain blue sky, because there are enough busy pattern going on the sand, make the photo look rather busy, but that is asking for the impossible, when travelling, you take whatever the weather was at the time. Thanks

A really awesome photo here...just tremendous colors and an amazing sky as you said. The colors are really so rich...is this just as it appeared or did you do any work on this? Regardless if you did or didn't, this must have been a spectacular scene. Very nicely done.

This s is a great desert photo, very well composed. Maybe the PP in the colors is perhaps too obvious.
A good photo nevertheless
