Photographer's Note
This is the other side of tourism development in Hurghada.A city grew tto qickly to accommodate all Egyptian workers employed in the hotel. It's a dormitory town, built without rule and very dirty and dilapidated.

Hello Luciano,
There is always another side in every town and they are seldom presented. Your image here says it all and is a reminder that development in a city always has it's drawback and does not make everyone happy.
Best regards

Hello Luciano,
I find it great you decided to post this photo.Definitely not a postcard view, but just like you wrote it shows us other side of tourism we do not think about while beeing on vacation. The image has excellent quality, but I think it´s not the most important thing about it,just its documentary character to pay our attention on this matter.Perfectly done!
Have a good day

Ciao Luciano,
Foto grande giornalismo.
Tutto il meglio

Hi Luciano
an evocative shot this! I would imagine this is the sorry scenario in a lot of recession hit resorts. Excellent image of dilapidation and the other side of life in these difficult times. An expressive and worthy presentation.
Have a great middle of the week - regards Brian.

Ciao Luciano,

No different than Las Vegas, although not this bad but we also have an area in the city that tourist must stay away from. It's a sad situation in Egypt, and I still don't (or maybe I refuse) understand why people can't get along. Nice documentation, tfs.

Ciao Luciano,
Every town has it's backyards, and wherever weak population gathered and work hard to gic=ve service - they have no spare time and efforts to take care for the environment. Authorities must take care about this aspect. Anyhow, spotted well and show a great lesson about...
Buona serata,

Hi Luciano,
a good idea to post this to TE and show us the other side of tourism and the effects of it. I have only been to Cairo but this scene is also visible there as in many other places in the world. The reasons? Poverty and moral perhaps. Much of the incomes from the tourist industry doesn`t benefit the locals. In my opinion it is preferable to shop in small local shops when it is possibly. Excellent contribution to TE.
Have a nice evening.

Amazing the decay that can happen to abandoned places, Luciano. Your shot is a stark reminder of that, unflinching in its examination of this husk of a building, ripped apart and used as a wastebin. Certainly not pretty, but very evocative.

Good morning Luciano,
A completely different look at the lesser known side of tourism, such a shame this happens. :( This is a thoughtful take on what we don't see in our quest to find the best and brightest that any city has to offer. It's a good reminder that everything comes at a cost. Although it may not be a monument or otherwise scenic picture that is enticing, it's a provocative image. Thanks for taking a moment to bring this to our collective conscience.
Cheers,
Jason

believe it or not, I actually look and search for these type of scenes. I could be at home or on the road as a tourist.
its a true scene, its true life.
looking at the scene its easy to see that this would be a perfect fit for HDR.

Hello, Luciano,
Original point of view to daily life in Hurghada. Good jurnalist photo work, but after Egyptian revolution a lot of markets were closed by owners.
Numerous families of the Egyptian Copts were forced to become refugees or have been killed. I have one friend in Hurghada. He is a Christian and he told me about their hard life.

Hello Luciano
Your comment about my last posting (great advertising for your country) is clearly not reciprocated for Egypt! I suspect it's not the sort of photograph that will attract too many punters on TE, but I like street photography, and if TE is to live up to its motto of learning about the world, then more gritty, uncompromising documentary images like this are necessary. Truth is beauty.
Regards
Will
PS I'm obviously wrong: you've already got truckloads of points for this! Well done.

Hello Luciano,
This is not pretty, and never intended to be, but it is a fact of life and an important reminder of what mass tourism means to some. In a way, maybe this is also a kind of "all inclusive" living. I think you broke an unwritten rule by walking into this area. Surely you were supposed to stay at the beach.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonsoir Luciano,
Amicalement,
Christian

Hi Luciano,
Excellent shot, not the typical touristy place. It is a great documentation of the place to the condition and problem of a growing city. I applaud you for this. We as tourist tend to ignore and close our eye when we see such place. This bring attention to society.

Ciao caro Luciano,
Sometimes there are wonderful photographic opportunities is sites of dereliction and this is a perfect example!
It might not be beautiful, but this picture shows just what a disgusting animal the human being can be - lots of trashed building works, refuse and filth - the things which, I presume, the tourists staying in the hotel would never see.
Technically a superb "reportage" photograph with good composition, vibrant true colours and exquisite details throughout.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Luciano!
Tourism has advantages and also disadvantages and this is surely a big one - the other side of paradise, that we generally don't see in the photos! Your photo is very good to show it, with much detail! This situation is not rare in other places around the world, too!

what is more interesting here is the graphite with a hawk in the glass and the wall. interesting details showing the influence of ancient Egypt in the modern one.
anyway, for some reason it was the same in morocco, I guess the public spaces don't have a so important role for while.
