Photographer’s Note
The White Desert is a protectorate, or national park, in central Egypt, seen here at sunrise. Oddly shaped wind-eroded monuments of chalky bright-white calcium carbonate jut upward all over the landscape. It's a little hard to judge the scale here so I'll guess that this structure is 8-10 meters (25-30 feet) high. If you go there, you will definitely want to camp overnight. But watch out for the small desert foxes that come out when it's dark--they will rob your campsite!

Hello Ken,
I have not heard of this place before, it must be a wonderful experience to visit there.
Lovely capture, the almost silhouetted rock makes for a striking foreground, and the yellow sand gives such a contrast to the white desert.
Superb image.
Thank you for sharing.

Bonjours,

Hello Ken,
What an intriguing and fascinating place and you captured its mood and ambiance delightfully. Superb contrast of the white and brown—or yellow sand. The sun illuminating on the left is such a nice touch.
Greetings from Miami,

Hi Kev,
Quite special rock formation. Contrast between white ground and light brown sand is surprising. The sun is well placed and small aperture shows rays around it nicely.

Ken,
Unique "Daliesque" formation is the main attraction for me in this one. Most unusual - unless you're in the white desert, perhaps.
Once dawn's done and dusted I'd guess the exposure becomes a little challenging - always assuming your camera hasn't decided to join in with the melted landscapes.
Regards
Colin
