Photographer’s Note
These are the back sides of the Osiride pillars (a photo of the front of the pillars is to be seen here) situated in the second court in the mortuary temple of Ramesses II at West Thebes/Luxor. The first pillar to the right shows the defaced king with his ka (an aspect of the soul) entering the temple. On the second pillar is a depiction of sky godess Nut, on the third the god Wepwawt (his name means "The Opener of the Ways" and he is a god related to the death) is depicted, while on the last pillar is a representation of the local god Amun.

Nice symmetry to tell the story of the three pillars of this incredible spot on earth. Like how the shadows also exist on the backsides of the pillars, giving this shot greater depth. Would love to visit this place one day!

Hi Christian,
Nice pleated effect you get by the columns of light and shadow. Sharp motif and good lighting.

Thanks for this photo Christian because makes me wonder how the old people back those times felt in front of this images filled up of power symbolism. The POV is fantastic here. Very well seen. Thanks for share.

Thats a nice POV, Christian! I like the pressive look, the details and the side sun that shines on one side (which gives a good feeling of depth).

Hej Christian,
Excellent shot of those pillars, especially the lighting is great with the dark and light parts. Taken from a great angle too, well done!

Hi Christian, Thanks for showing us the details of the pillars in Luxor. The one I have even seen like this is from the Luxor hotel in Las Vergas. They did a good job to copy the style. The real one looks more impressive and with great details. Nice shot to show the texture of the art work on the pillars.

Hi Christian,
Yet another very beautiful Egyptian photograph! Great perspective and beautiful detail and sharpness - very well spotted. If I'm right the 'Ka' of the King would be eternally perserved as long as he's mummified..etc I also remember seeing that 'Wepwawt' in book of the dead~...plz correct if im wrong. TFS.

Excellent composition and sharpness. I love the repetition of the columns and the fact that you show practically exactly the same width of each of them. The color is beautiful, too. Have a nice weekend, Yvonne

Très belle image ! La composition est très bonne et la lumière très belle également, elle fait bien ressortir les gravures.Le choix du téléobjectif pour écraser les perspectives est bien vu !!
Bravo !!
