Photographer’s Note
After some nubian daily life scenes from the west bank of the river Nile in Aswan, it's time for presenting a general view from above. As you can see, the dominant color is this same blue that remind me of Jodphur city in India or Chefchaouen in Morocco, and you could see it well from a close approach in my last post from this place.
Notice a man on a camel passing to the right side in direction to the Nile river, and a woman dressed in black going to the left side towards the village.
I often caught the public ferry to this side and got lost in these villages, far away from tourists. The fact is that the traditional architecture of their houses was very attractive to my eyes, along with the people. These villages can't be seen from the center of Aswan, on the oposite margin of the Nile, since they are hidden behind the palm groves that flank the river. It was a nice surprise for me to find this off the beaten tourist track, which happened almost by accident when I decided to climb a dune to see Aswan from above. It isn't mentioned in any touristic book, but I found it one of the most interesting places to visit in Aswan.
WS1 - another view to the right of this one with the sight of the Nile and the other margin of the Nile.
WS2 - A wider angle from a more distant POV showing a general view of what you see here.

Hi Ricardo,
it looks like an impossible place for a village if it weren't for the invisible river.
Great view.

Hi Ric,
at a glance it remembered to me too Jodphur. I like the composition with the warm colors of the dunes in the FG.
Very well done!

So a nice landscape, Ricardo! Just a dreaming place, with all that blue. And a lot of space, a great dimension of...solitude? I don't know. I can just imagine, go, go with my fancy and then write a story. A romantic story! Ciao,

Quite amazing - obviously I haven't spent enough time in
Aswan (when travelling through on the way to Abu Simbel) as
I can't remember this part of the town/city at all.
But I love your photos as they show the place 'as it is' as suppose to certain well known spots or 'nice'
postcard-like scenes. This is it - this is true Aswan as
seen with the eyes of a traveler.
Cheers, Ric!

Olá Ricardo!
Será que ainda me fazes ir ao Egipto? à primeira vista parecia-me mesmo a India.

A Aswan a legendary sort of place! and your picture gives it a mystical feel ,Ricardo, The image has a rich mosaic look and the colours are lovely. Quite apart from the shimmering city in the desert, you have captured two people, one incongruously sitting in the desert. W>S ! is just as attractive, relating the city to the river , as it does. Hi Ric, Indeed, the colour of the village is blue. And it is quite big. Interesting view of the desert. Certainly, it must be a amazing discovery for you. Nostalgic look, with the camel and the lonely woman in black. Regards

Hello Ricardo,
This photo is the strongest compare to the others in WS. The one with the Nile is good also but this one has the better composition, especially with the 2 people in foreground.

hi Ricardo
This looks a little like Mars landing!
I am impressed with the change of color tone gradient and it is a wonderful scenery of the earth color in this part of the world.
How different it can be to see such settlement. This is something like StarWars scene. And I have to say that your WS1 and WS2 are both deserving photos that should be posted on their own! Very good work.

Hi Ricardo,
Ws1 is also not bad, but this is the right choice to post. The heat in Aswan can be terrible and your picture shows a bit why. In the middle of knowhere it seems, not including the Nile looks like we have to deal with a city in the middle of the desert...
Nice how you inlcuded the cameldriver in front, a small though important detail...very nice.

Ricardo,

You should start a theme entitled "Blue Cities of the World" ;D I remember the ones you posted from India. Another good trilogy of images to showcase this place. Interesting to see the Nile on the WS and how the greenery follows its path. You are showing us the Egypt we don't see very often.

Hola Ricardo.
I'm glad that you posted two WS from this village with the Nile river and green areas because when I saw this picture I asked myself from what the people of this village lives, it's hard to live in a place like this without water and agriculture, impossible. I have never been in Egypt. Your three shots are very good. Each one could be place as OV.
Well done.
Best regards.

It was a good idea to have desert layers around the blue city. Works very well.

Ola Ricardo,
The gardening enthusiast in me would really love to live in such a city ;-)))
Oh and this is Aswan, I imagined a much bigger place, actually by your photo it seems to be a big village, and this blue color makes it so special. The people venturing in the nil desert surroundings add to the special impression we get from this place.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Ricardo,
Great photo of the city from a superb POV. The colours and lights are so nice here and the blueish tones of the city stand out so well against the warm red of the sand. Nice inclusion of the people in the foreground too.

Josep

I thought Jodhpur was the Blue City, but this place can also claim that title! Liked the wider view in WS2 with the view of Nile in far BG. I guess the reason for the blue colour is the same as in Rajasthan…heat! Good contrast with the earthy colours in the FG. The two people in the frame seem to balance each other. Good work my friend!
Best Regards
