Photographer’s Note

South of the city of Aswan lies the beautiful temple complex of Philae. Its main temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis and its construction was undertaken during the third century B.C. Philae was the last bastion of ancient Egyptian religion and hieroglyphic usage.

Despite the hassle in reaching the site (many touts trying to rip you off for the boat ride there), the ruins were some of the most impressive during my time in Egypt. I had long been looking for a shot like this, and the overcast day actually provided the perfect opportunity to get this photo.
