Photographer’s Note
This photo is of one of the huge statues of Ramses II at Abu Simbel in Egypt. These staues are about 60 feet high and were carved out of a solid mountain side. There are two temples at Abu Simbel one dedicated to Ramses and the other to his favorite wife Nefertari. The inside of the temples are equally impressive with lots of paintings and statues. These monuments were moved to their present position in the 1970s when they were threatened with being flooded by the lake produced by the Aswan Dam.

Hi Brian,
I was watching on TV an historical documentary about Abu Simbel, and this has aroused my curiosity to see what TE could offer about this place. Great idea! The POV you chose gives a clear idea of the majesty of this temple. Thanks for posting, Dario
