Photographer’s Note

Abu Simbel (Arabic: أبو سنبل‎ or أبو سمبل) is an archaeological site comprising two massive rock temples in southern Egypt on the western bank of Lake Nasser about 290 km southwest of Aswan. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Nubian Monuments",[1] which run from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae (near Aswan).

The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC, as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari, to commemorate his alleged victory at the Battle of Kadesh, and to intimidate his Nubian neighbors. However, the complex was relocated in its entirety in the 1960s, on an artificial hill made from a domed structure, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir.

The relocation of the temples was necessary to avoid their being submerged during the creation of Lake Nasser, the massive artificial water reservoir formed after the building of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River. Abu Simbel remains one of Egypt's top tourist attractions.

Hello Luciano,
Indeed a different point of view, well discovered. This shows well how the temple is integrated in the rock face. Fine colours and play of light and shadows too.

J'aime bien celle-ci car le POV très particlier (je connais Abou Simbel) donne à penser que ces statues sont retournées à leur état précédent d'ensablement, avec seulement leurs têtes qui émergent encore

Questo punto di vista e molto ben scelto. Mi piacoono anche nella tua vista la bella armonia dei colori ed anche l'eqquilibrata della composizione con una bella diagonale.

Sai? Sono stata letteralmente tempestata di messaggi, oggi. Tutti, OVVIAMENTE, di carattere mentale, o spirituale che dir si voglia. TUTTI provenienti da trapassati dell'antico Egitto. Faraoni e relative consorti, ma anche scrivani, gentiluomini di corte e persino umili persone della plebe. Tutti concordi nello stesso messaggio: " Finalmente un'immagine DIVERSA di Abu Simbel. Per favore trasmetti a Luciano i nostri complimenti più sentiti e il nostro doveroso omaggio".

Hi Luciano, A little different POV, indeed. Here you cannot to estimate the immensity of it. But it is always interesting to show something new from the well known place. So you were in Abu Simbel also. Did you go there by bus on the desert or by plane? splendid colours.

Eh bravo Luciano! Siamno abituati a vedere frontalmente questo monumento imponenete e misterioso. Qui il POV scelto, la luce e la gran diagonale lo rebdon oacor più interessante e intrigante. ottimo i lcontrasto.
