Photographer’s Note

Alexandria, with 3.98 million inhabitants on the northern coast of Egypt, is one of the major cities on the Mediterranean Sea and Egypt’s second largest.

It embraces a coast line of 70 kilometers and is home to 40% of Egypt’s industrial establishments. Despite extraordinary efforts exerted by the city visionary leaders to develop Alexandria, the city is still challenged by the need for improved living conditions and socioeconomic activities.

30 squatter settlements accommodate approximately 1.36 million inhabitants (30% of the city’s population) and only 25% of the city's population is active in the labor market. Despite this there is a distinct lack of long-term economic development vision and strategy.

This photo demonstrates just an everyday apartment block in this bustling metropolis.

Très jolie capture de cette scène urbaine. J'aime tous ces tissus à rayures. La petite porte blanche, en haut à gauche, semble bien triste sans couleurs.

I thought it was 9 small pictures assembled together in the small picture. Well seen and taken, with the blus/pink arrangement of balconies, each being different from the other. The suare format is welcome

What a nice composition. It looks like a collage of different pictures.
