Photographer's Note
The Egyptian city of Alexandria with the citadel in the background.
“Alexandria with a population of 4.1 million, is the second-largest city in Egypt, and is the country's largest seaport, serving approximately 80% of Egypt's imports and exports. Alexandria is also an important tourist resort. Alexandria extends about 32 km (20 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in north-central Egypt. It is home to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the new Library of Alexandria). It is an important industrial center because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez.
In ancient times, Alexandria was one of the most famous cities in the world. It was founded around a small pharaonic town c. 331 BC by Alexander the Great. It remained Egypt's capital for nearly a thousand years, until the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 641, when a new capital was founded at Fustat (Fustat was later absorbed into Cairo). Alexandria was known because of its Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; its library (the largest library in the ancient world); and the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. Ongoing maritime archaeology in the harbor of Alexandria, which began in 1994, is revealing details of Alexandria both before the arrival of Alexander, when a city named Rhacotis existed there, and during the Ptolemaic dynasty.
From the late 19th century, Alexandria became a major center of the international shipping industry and one of the most important trading centers in the world, both because it profited from the easy overland connection between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, and the lucrative trade in Egyptian cotton.” (wikipedia)

Hello Wolfgang,
A very pleasant point of view looking along the brightly lit promenade towards the fortress. I like the presence of the long shadows in the foreground that act as pointers towards the citadel and the people strolling in the winter sunshine.

Hello Wolfgang,
This is a fine view where the space is well used, from the man selling ice cream or something, up to the old man watching people. The long shadows create an interest in what would otherwise have been a large empty space. They also lead my eyes through the picture, almost all the way to the citadel.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo Wolfgang,
Gutes Standpunkt mit den tiefen und langen Schatten im Vordergrund. Das gelbe Gemaeuer am Ende der Qai ergenzt die Szene perfekt.

Hi Wolfgang,
Beautiful and strong colours. I get the impression that clear air feels quite chilly here, judging from the clothes people wear and from the sharpness of the horizon. A very pleasant view here and an interesting note.
Kind regards

Hi Wolfgang,
A clever use of the strong shadows for lead in and to create drama in this composition. I like the clarity, colours and a good selection of the elements here. Well done!!

Hi Wolfgang,
Very well considered and refined composition, the lady wearing a blue jacket is expertly put in the exquisite place at the good moment.
It' also interesting that you in the shadow look like not viewing the viewfinder.
Best wishes, Hisashi

Hi Wolfgang
Breathtaking scene, this is technically superb. Everything spot on. A nice and well composed image with good rich colours. The brighter lighting is correctly exposed and we have the crowd to add interest. Great perspective and depth and the path leads eyes into the background, the citadel. Well chosen FG subjects particularly I love the shadows they created that intensify the depth even further. A nice shot well executed. High quality image. Well written notes. TFS.
