[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The main road across the north of the Sinai Peninsula runs between Rafah, at the border of Israel and Palestine in the East, and the Suez Canal which separates Asia from Africa in the West.

Travelling back towards the canal in the hot dry heat it was a pleasure to see such mouth-watering melons on offer on the roadside. Where they were grown I am not quite sure. Surely not from the trees in the local parched sands? Further west along the banks of the fertile River Nile perhaps?

I wish I had asked..

But it wasn't the melons that this young man was so determined to show me, for he had a little green garden growing in the dry desert sands on his left hand-side.

And very proud he was. Feel free to look at the workshop picture.

I enjoyed this image and the note you have wrote very much, I am very glad to see that there are people like him that still try to make a real difference by building a garden in the desert. I wish to go these just to tell him how that small garden has given me hope!
Regards, Ramy.

Hi Casper

You really found some color to pop out against the drab desert landscape. Very sharp with good detail. Nice capture of daily life.

Hello casper. The photo pleases me, likewise the composition. The motive is worth seeing. An exemplary everyday life photo. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Casper,
Simple roadside business well presented. The road and car gives strong perspective. Fruit provide colour. There's good contact with the seller. Nice sidelight. Those barrels just couldn't be more rusty.
Kari

Hi Casper,
the whole "look at my green garden" thing really is amusing. What I really think about is the purpose of the second barrel though.
Good shot, and the colour are very pleasant. Nicely done!
Cheers
Michal

Hello Casper,
Both pictures (this one and the one in the WS) are very beautiful daily life-pictures and tell us a story about the man and his life.
Thanks for the notes.
Regards, Paul
