Sisha is definitely very important in Egypt and Arab culture as well. Maybe the best place for it is Khan El Khalili in Cairo but I took this photo in Memphis.
The old man in the photo is a taxi driver who took us to Giza, Sakkara and Memphis in my holiday in Cairo. He was a very nice and silent guy. When we had a break after visiting Memphis, he ordered his sisha in a cafeteria nearby and thought very deeply while smoking.
You can easily see the marks of life on his face. Even though the doctor told him not to smoke sisha, it is obvious that he is addicted to it.. Who knows? Maybe he is so sick and tired of life that he doesn't care any advice... |
