Portrait in the Springs Photo

Photographer’s Note

This portrait was taken in the desert town of Bawaiti, Western Egypt. In this desert town, there are hot springs where water is pumped from the ground and locals to bathe. I didn't go in, but I was talking to some of the locals here, and I got this photo while I was at it.

Hello David,

A wonderful portrait of the boy, reflecting his joy and carefree life. I hope it remains that way for a long time. I like the image very much, but I think you could have made it larger. It is only 141 KB, whereas it could be a full 300 KB. And it measures measure 666x444 pixels whereas the allowed maximum image size is 800x533 pixels.

You didn't go in, but sure got very close. Excellent shot, great smiling face, good background colours of the splashing water. It immediately reminded me of your "eye spy" picture, maybe even the same kid?

Yet again those eyes! You can certainly pick your subjects. This is a fantastic shot, great composition, I love the detail of the water droplets on his face and the rushing water over his shoulder and under him. He looks like he is having a lot of fun and this radiates from this photo.

This is a very unique portrait, imaging being in the desert somewhere in Egypt, yet there this water cascde, so refreshing, and the boy joyful smile really brighten up the photo. Very nice.
