Photographer’s Note

Of all kinds of relation between human being, parental love is perhaps the most selfless. Where ever they are from, who ever they are parents look after their offspring with the same loving and caring attitude. This picture was taken while the mother was going to farm and the small girl was hitching a piggy back ride. In rural Ivory Coast, women work in the farms as their male counter parts and they carry their children where ever they go, even to the farms.

The sense of security of the child is evident in her eyes. A tribute to all the parents out there.

Carrying the infant on the back is a world wide practice rural working women indulge in, Selim.
This is typical Ivory Coast, I believe. In the Himalayan region in Asia, the child is usually placed slightly higher on the back, maybe because of ascending and descending pathways.

Greetings Selim. Lovely photo showing that from the security and vantage point the mother provides, the child feels comfortable to question and explore the world around her. It's good that she wasn't looking directly at you(us) so that we are left wondering what exactly aroused her interest. nicely caught. Regards, Klaudio
