Water...water...water...
What is more vital than water ?
In Africa... water does not often flow from the tap and it is a daily duty to walk to the well (or river) to grab a few liters and bring them back home.
Here in Kasaï you will see all women (or young ladies like in this picture) carrying very heavy water basins on their heads. Think about this reality before complaining that the taste of your tap water isn't perfect or your shower is a bit too cold!

Hi Eric!
Great shot of this group of people carrying water.Good contrast of their colorful cloth with the nice brown tones in the foreground and the vegetation in the distance.
Regards,leo

Hello Eric,
A very efficiently cropped picture that puts the whole focus on the women. By coincidence it shows something that I find so typical of many countries in Africa: the women working hard and carrying heavy loads, the man doing nothing (it seems). The African red earth plays a prominent role in this picture.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Eric, A stunning expression of colour, they are so vivid & light up the whote photo, superb composition & very good depth, your POV was superbly chosen, the sharp focus is first class & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Eric,
A nice colorful picture, almost symetric-right shot on the right time.I love the composition and the multicolor details, bravo!
Regards from Spain,Lance

Good work here. I love the detail of all basins being blue and all the dresses of different colors. The contrast with the brown-red road dirt makes an excellent contrast. Good framing too

I love the color tones here. Also the bright clothing. A really great shot!!! TFS

I fully support your sentence about westerners claiming too often - Each single "whity" shall be send to Africa (or any place with water scarity) to to live for some period to gain appreciacion. After having stayed 2 month in Mauritania (and few other travells)I've possesed a new point of view.
I stopped wasting water and food and understood in how easy world we live here in EU.

Bonsoir Eric,

Bravo,
Amitiés,
Cath.

I remember those buckets well! Although in our case we were fortunate to have running water much of the time, others in the neighborhood did not, and came to our compound to fill up. (This was in Kenya.) There were some Peace Corps volunteers who had to get their water brought in by donkey from 20 km away!

It's a good human interest shot. Also, the colors are strong and the images are pretty well balanced. Good catch.

Dan

Good capture, and a good note to make people think.

hello, peter

a beautiful and informative shot. i like the color contrast between the oker of the soil, the reds of the clothing and the blue shirt + the bins. in this sense, i feel, the photo could be a tad more impressive if you cropped away good part of the top, letting the figures and the road dominate more.

warm regards and TFS
kristaps
