Photographer's Note

Day after day, women wear heavy charges on their heads.
Most of the time they transport vegetables to the market or water on their (long) way back from the well.

Along the Bushimaye river you will find some of them working in artisanal quarries and wearing stone slabs or aggregates. It is hard to believe that there are simply no animals or mechanised tools to do the job... but so it is ! No donkeys, no oxes ... only women and children.
