In 1973 I travelled Overland from London to Nairobi. Shortly after crossing into the Congo - then called Zaire - we came upon this dugout canoe in the process of being cut out of a log. Traditional dugouts were still being used on the rivers in the Congo & it was interesting to see at first hand how this was done. Today it is probably all tin boats! Photo taken on Kodachrome 25 with my trusty Ricoh Singlex. Scanned & digitised.

that must have been an amazing adventure, probably couldn't do today. What great memories you must have. Fine shot of this original canoe

Hi dear Neil, how are you? Sorry for my late reply as so busy weekday.
Very precious documentation image, right? Right now nobaody can enter into this area, as so dangerous.
Thick and tasteful color touch are so nice to see.
All the best and have a good Sunday! TAKERO
