Photographer's Note

Here is another shot of a congolese woman taken by surprise. Though she is less elegantly dressed than the one I posted yesterday, you will have noticed her very colourful Belgian (?) umbrella "parapluie" serving here as "parasol". Woman in Kasaï, at least close to the cities, use this elegant stuff quite often.

Effectivement, c'est très élégant.
Les couleurs sont magnifiques grace à cette lumière à travers le parapluie. J'aime beaucoup.

The woman doesn't look quite happy to have her photo taken, but she needn't worry. It all turned out very well. A nicely balanced picture with some amazing colours.

Very nicely composed portrait, though I might consider cropping off some of the top of the frame for more focus and the woman and her rainbow parasol.

She doesn't look too happy about the surprise, though.

Merveilleuses couleurs, regard un rien inquiet.
Le parapluie ne résisterait pas à la pluie, il est troué, mais il fait merveille avec le soleil.

ces parapluies sont très photogéniques et la lumière qui filtre à travers le rend encore plus beau.
Une prise un peu statique, peut-être qu'une contre-plongée aurait pu rendre bien.

wat een mooie, zonnige kleuren in deze foto. De kleurrijke paraplu contasteert prachtig met de warme kleuren in de rest van de foto. Ook de compositie vind ik zeer geslaagd. TFS

Hello Eric, a difficult photo with the sun almost straight ahead but that makes the colors of the parapluie shine, the serene and calm attitude of the Congolese lady gives him to the composition an appearance of normality that I like.

Formidable cette photo! La lumiere est tres jolie et ressort les belles couleur du parasol. Le DOF etait bien choisi. La femme regarde la camera avec fierte. Une photo tres beine reussite qui va a mes favorites!

Super contrejour, avec les couleurs arc en ciel du parapluie qui ressortent et le personnage au point fort de l'image. Dommage qu'il y ait ce bâton en premier plan (je pinaille, mais c'est ainsi que l'on progresse).

though the lady lacks the smile, her umbrella pays up for that- colorful and eye-catching, and then who knows deep inside her she sings...
