An african tale...
An orphan named Afua was sent from the village of her dead mother to the village of her father to live with the sister of his mother and her husband. But the old couple did not want her. They would not tell her their names and gave her no food to eat until she should call them by their names.
Afua was made to work very hard and given no food so she would leave the village of her father. Everyday, even when she was weak from hunger, Afua had to take the big drum and fill it with water for her uncle and aunt.
She would take the drum to the river and weep because she could not guess their names. The crabs who lived by the river had no shells and lived deep in the mud so that they would not be hurt by animals who came to drink. They heard Afua's misery and decided to help her for they knew that each night the old couple would walk by the river.
That evening when the uncle and aunt were walking in the mud on the banks of the river the crabs pinched the old woman's toes. In her pain she called her husband by name and asked him help her. Then the crabs let her go and pinched instead the toes of the old man. He called out his wife's name and said to her come and let us leave this place where hidden things pinch our feet.
The next morning when Afua came to fill the drum the crabs told her the names. When Afua returned to her uncle and aunt she called them by name and by that they were forced to feed her and let her stay.
The old couple were angry and they knew that the crabs must have said their names to the girl. They gathered calabashes and threw them at the crabs so hard that the gourds stuck on the backs of the crabs. The crabs in turn took mud and threw at the old people and it stuck to their hair and never came off.
This is why crabs now have shells and old people have grey hair, to remind them to be kinder and wiser.

Grazie.
Paolo.

Hi Alberto,
I love the story about why old people have grey hair!
The shot is well composed and the woman stands out well from her surroundings in her traditional dress.
Regards
Wanda

Ciao Alberto,
Diane
