Photographer’s Note
game over
Yetserday the worldcup 2006 ended and Italy did win their 4th title.
It was not a verry exciting match, like all 14 matches of the finalists.
The pictures of Zidane`s foul were the worst ,during the last four weeks and i can`t understand why the FIFA and the international press elcted him as most valuable player.
Phot is taken at a sportpark in Espargos, the capital of Sal island.I already posted two basketball shots from here.

Hi Leo
Like Henk I am glad too. Too much is to much and the only informations available is about football since 2 weeks. However like most french people I was a front my TV waiting for the French team win. Obviously the Italian team win at penalties level (at this level it's more to be lucky than better...). For Zidane, he leave football with the red ticket. Not acceptable for a professionnal guy at so high level. Afetr speaking football, we can speak about photo. I think it's the goal on TE ! This shot give us "Bye Bye" and illustrate well the event of yesterday evening.
Cheers

Hi Andreas,
Superb imagery with this vast and richly hued sky hovering over the goal structures. Good DOF and fine lighting. The shot is poignant, given the recent event. I am of the view that deciding a world champion based on penalty shootout kicks is a poor method. In NHL hockey, in all rounds of the playoffs the teams play until the other team scores in extra time in a legitimate way - even if it means playing all night. That is the test of a true champion, because the team in better physical condition, given two rather equal opponents, is likely to win. Having said that, congrats to Italy...A superb shot, Andreas. Have a good week.

Bonsoir andreas,
C'est fini et l'Italie est championne ;o(
Mais ta photo est superbement construite : avec ce coucher de soleil, le rideau tombe sur le stade de football !
Bravo !

Hi Andreas,
This is the kind of sky I would travel miles for - the strong patterns and bold colours are marvellous...Fitting time to show it now the football has finished...this pic is like a goodbye tribute. I can't agree with some of the others, I loved it all and can't wait for the club season to start. I do agree with the disappointment of Zidane's foul though. He's a master of his trade and should show a good example to the watching world, especially to the kids who idolise him. Well done and thanks for posting. Best wishes, Vicky

Hallo Andreas!
Ich schließe mich der Meinung von Henk in Sachen Fußball an.
Die verschiedenen Wolken auf Deinem Foto mit den unterschiedlichen Farben finde ich ganz toll. Ein "schönes" Foto!
Grüße aus Westfalen!

Hi Andreas,
Perfect image of this sunset with the great perspective which they create the two goals of the football ground, with a spectacular and very beautiful sky, a great illumination, and a tones, textures and colors of really fantastic clouds.
I like the silhouette of the tree to the left.

Hi Leo,
nice shot and very good note. The pic is very well composed with great light and fantastic colors. The perspective is fabulous, too. I was not really interested in this competition and that's why I was on holiday during the major part of it. In Turkmenistan there was no TV transmission about football. 4 years ago,I did the same thing...
Friendly regards!

Hallo Leo,
An appropriate shot, and with lovely aesthetic qualities. So many colours in this beautiful sky, and the goal posts silhouetted against it. I'm not really sorry the World Cup is over - personally I enjoyed watching the tennis at Wimbledon more over the last couple of weeks - but each to their own!
Thanks for a superb photo.

Thanks God, the "Worst Cup" is over!!! And do not mention Zidane anymore!!! What a disgraceful demonstration of unfair play. Shame on him!!!
But, as we are not here to tall about football, let me say that your photo is very nice with that empty football field. I like the low POV and the colors.

Hi Andreas,
What a wonderful composition against the setting sun. Simply stunning. I like the low angle POV. You probably wanted to keep the image devoid of human elements to suit your POV. Eitherway, its a brlilliant image.

A superb photo posted at just the right moment, and with nobody around in the photo, you've chosen the perfect title. And what a beautiful photo to signal the end. Great colours, perfect exposure, great silhouetted goal posts. Very nice work Leo.

Un ciel de fin de film avec des cages de football. C'est bien choisi pour la fin de ce mondial qui a permis à des millions de gens de se passionner et de rêver c'est ça le positif. C'est quand même mieux de s'affronter dans le sport que dans la guerre, non ?

was für eine wunderschöne komposition, leo! :-)
der tolle dramatische sonnenuntergang zusammen mit dem
verlassenen fussballfeld wär schon was für den Fifa werbekatalog. "game over - see you in 2010 in Southafrica".
ich muss zu meiner schande gestehen, trotz Fifa-WM-stadt,
war ich während der letzten 4 wochen nicht mehr in der city
und nicht am stadion oder den public-viewing plätzen...
grüße aus köln, thorsten.
