We are in the refugees camp of Kousséri(100 000people),a village of north cameroon closed to N'Djamena,Tchad. It was during the conflict between Goukouni Wadaye and Hissen Habré.This camp deasepered with this end of conflict.(H.Habré won,and now is wanted bye international court of la haye, for crime against humanity during his presidence of the country.)
Life conditions were very bad,but these children are pleased to celebrate some rain, because dryness was a suplementary problem!
Today, humanitary action is better organized, but the conflicts too...

Hi Howe,
Great shot of these kids playing after the rain. Sharp with nice details. Nicely captured and Superbly composed.

Ben Lakitan

Great work Patrick, a poignant image and an illustration of how happiness is relative. At that moment in time, those children were feeling as much joy as any priviliged Western child at Christmas time ...
Beautiful composition and subdued colours.
Congratulations.

Belles couleurs, a+

Hi Patrick,
I like the composition, and the way you use the surroundings to frame the children!
You convey the mood well, in an image with goodnatural colours and good details!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Patrick, This is the sort of shot to learn about cultures so different to our own. Their glee is evident. Good capture. Murray.

This is one of those photographs in which the technique and meaning blend together seamlessly; the colors are rich without being flamboyant, and the emotion powerful without being sentimental. The composition/cropping focuses the attention on the children, but at the same time does not permit us to ignore the context. Above all, the photograph captures something of the essence (the "je ne sais quoi") of Africa. Well done!

in this situation they can make happy.
t.f.s.

Nicely framed with the huts to see these playing children between all the pools of the rain, fine spotted sharply on the children with the OOF frontplan of the hut. Well done Patrick.
greetings
Henk

Bonjour Patrick,
Amicalement, Irina
