This is the Mt Cameroun, a 4100m high volcano pictured from Tiko, West Coast of Cameroon, about 60km north of Douala. It last erupted in 1999 and one can visit a spot where the main road to north was reached by lava flows.

On the foreground you can notice the palm trees from which oil is extracted but also Tea plantations. These are two major components of the local agriculture together with bananas. Quite close you can follow the so-called "Tea road" from Buea to Limbe. It's a nice portion of road along the Tea plantations of the CDC company from which you meet really nice points of view over the landscape.

Tiko and places around are said to be the most humid ones on earth so you have little opportunity to discover Mt Cameroun, especially from Douala. I have to say it was one of the two clearest atmosphere around Mt Cameroun I met since I arrived.

Each February, a 40km race takes place to reach the summit. I've heard it was one of the hardest race in Africa. I can imagine how true it is since the two hours I spent trying to climb the lower part exhausted me a lot. The temperature was only 27°C but the humidity rate is probably above 90% and you really have the feeling that the temperature could be 10°C higher. On my walk together with the young guides I introduced you yesterday, I met a dozen of young racers practicing along the fields. They looked in perfect conditions.

Hi Steven!
The green is so juicy I am almost missing spring. Good shot with varied grounds - background with dramatic foggy atmosphere, the mountain further away, soft light.
