[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday, I spent my day exploring new places between Buea and Idenau. I started my visit by exploring Buea. I made a first stop in the heights of the city beside the palace of the former German governor. Last time I came, the weather was bad but I could visit the place. Yesterday, the weather was great but I was confirmed the place was forbidden for visit so I guess that I was lucky last time I came.

I had a chat with few kids walking around and I asked them to show me some nice spots around. Let me introduce them : from left to right and top-down : Eric, Gerard, Roland, Desmon, Georges and Regis.

They led me for a nice walk on the lower portion of the Mt Cameroon, a 4100m high volcano. Its last eruption took place in 1999. I basically discovered the higher farms jsut before the beginning of the rain forest. I also discovered a small waterfall and the main watertank for the houses around. The little guides explained me that the houses were typical from the German colonial era even if today the place is an english-speaking area (though most people speak Pidjin like in the nearby Nigeria). I also saw a wooden jail in the middle of the fields where farmers are growing their vegetables. The mix of heavy rains and volcano grounds makes the place a great one to grow vegetables.

Judging from their attitude and the topics of our conversation, those kids who seems to leave in a remote village on the mountain are connected to the rest of the world. Video clips, internet are no secret for them. I was a bit disappointed but I guess that for people living so close from Buea, a 60,000 inhabitants city, they learn many things at school about modern life and tha't a chance for their future.
