With some people I met in Banfora town in soutwestern Burkina Faso I took a long walk in the forest. We reached a clearing that was regarded as a sacred place, where people came to perform offerings for the ghosts. Skulls of goats and hens were hanging from the trees and the ground was covered with feathers. These boys from some nearby village were watching the rituals, and since the slaughtering of an animal also meant a barbeque, I guess they were hoping for some parts of the food. The basket on the rock below the boys had been used for transportation of a hen.

Hej Gert,
Interesting contrast between the light background and the dark foreground. Interesting note as well, some a kind of voodoo going on here? Did you see any wild animals around?

Hej Gert,
Bilden är lite mörk men kompositionen är väldigt bra. Man kan lätt tänka sig ett lejon ligga och vila på klippan här (när pojkarna gått hem).
Hälsningar
