when we arrived at noon in the village of Kaya, I met this lady resting in the shade.. She was such a strong character! Her name is Marcelline! She was a kind of cook in chief! ;-)

you have the choice of the color version as well to compare your preferred version...

Superb portrait Eric, the woman is strong and beautiful, only strong people like her can lie in such a pose in front of a lens--and you surely stole yourself into her heart, no doubt, as she is so comfortable. Wonderful cadrage, the diagonality is dynamic, well seen, and she is a lovely woman no doubt. I think I go with the bw version, though the colour is great as well. The bw seems to bring out the tones better, don't you think?

That does not look like a comfortable place to take a nap, but she does seem quite at ease. My favorite thing is the way she holds her left hand against her face -- the position of her fingers. I prefer the color version. She is a colorful individual. Best, -Hugh

Marcelline is perfecting art of resting - beautifully and gracefully !!!
I'm strongly conviced that the art of resting charmingly after hard work of doing almost nothing (yet - still in a very seductive way, mind you ?) - is the main activity of population of Burkina Faso...

Wonderfully dignified portrait here, and the tones are magnificent given the strong lighting in the background.

I haven't been around TE for so long but I don't have many new photographs to contribute. I have lots of ideas though for places and moods to shoot right here at home after being away for so long.

Hola Eric... About this photo I think the main point is her, her attitude, her gesture and she´s very attractive woman so maybe color or B&W is not a big deal, nontheless I would chose color, because this is the way I mainly realize Africa nowadays, but it´s great like this as well. Take care.
