Photographer's Note

Every Thursday there's a big market at Gorom-Gorom, Northern Burkina Faso. The man showed in the picture cut a vein at the side of the camel's neck. After the camel had lost about 1.5l of blood, he stuffed the "scratch". The reason why they do that every 3 months, he told me, is because the camels don't bite people any more. Strange but true.
