Photographer’s Note

Today is a special day for me... I am posting my 1000th photo on TE!!

God, i have spent time on this website, i have met lots of lovely people and some have even become real friends. I do hope I have been able to improve my photographic skills and eye. One thing that has remained the same is my attraction to portraits and to people. So here is one special portrait shot in Burkina Faso.

Let me dedicate this african portrait to someone very dear to me, someone who has become more than a penfriend to me, someone with a real and true heart, as the spaniards would call her "una persona buona". Many of you know her for her high talented skills on TE and her ever smart analyses of your posts, and encouragements. She will recognize herself, i am sure... So, please take this 1000th post of mine as a personal gift and tribute to you!

j'aime beaucoup les couleurs! ce fond se marie bien avec les vetements de ces personnes...
Dommage pour le "chiffon" blanc (sur une tete?) en bas à gauche.
Te revoilà parti en effet pour atteindre 2000 photos.

Felicitations pour ta 1000eme ! Allez tu vas bien encore nous en trouver un autre petit millier cache dans ton disque dur...
Une jolie scene, on voit clairement que le petit bout s'interesse encore plus a sa mere qu'au photographe, par contre les deux autres protagonistes semblent plus curieux sans pour autant poser, ils font juste vrai.

Toutes mes félicitations pour ta 1000ème et toutes celles qui l'ont précédée. J'aime beaucoup ici cet unité de couleur. le mur assorti aux personnages, c'est d'une harmonie délicieuse. hello Eric, superbe photo toute en symphonie de couleurs, la peau de la femme se confond avec le mur... j adore.la scene est touchante d autant plus que l enfant regarde sa maman avec une telle attention... cette serie du Burkina est tres belle, depuis que je suis sur Te j ai pu constater que tu as essaye de nouvelles techniques, des PP sympa, c est comme cela que nous evoluons n est ce pas?? alors il faut que je me mette au traitement croise.. hiihi

It is a very beautiful photograph, and, like vagabondtravels, I think it really is documenting humanity. But I am very curious: the boy is gesturing towards the camera, is he pointing out to the woman that you are there, taking a picture? His eyes, their expressions, and his gesture all suggest that, and that makes the picture the work of the boy and the woman as much as your work... but perhaps that is what photographing people is all about?

Congratulations on your 1000th post. I have only recently registered on TE but have many times enjoyed viewing your work.

D'abord félicitations pour celle-ci, comme les précédents laudateurs je confirme qu'ici l'harmonie des tons est de toute beauté ! J'aime toutes les nuances-variantes qu'il y a dans ta composition, j'aime aussi comme les seins et les épaules de la jeune femme luisent au soleil... Encore une fois une belle représentation de l'Afrique, belle et dure notamment du fait de ces deux regards... Donc félicitations pour cette 1000ème sénior et tout de même je me demande bien qui peut-être cette personne à laquelle tu dédicaces cette photo... brevbrev ?... A plus...

Hi Eric,
I have met you here by your African portraits of mostly children and some of them made deep impact on me. Especially on those facial expression of those children, sometimes inncocent, sometimes young but the signs of life already on their faces....i was, and still am impressed on a lot of them.
You could not find a better one for your number 1000 than a picture from Africa, well choosen en a very good one with the woman feeding the child and the man raising his hand to you. Looks like a quick snapshot but there is much more to it....like it a lot.
And 1000 images, man i can not believe myself seeing posting so many pictures. You are really dedicated and that shows....congrats..!!!

La classe.

J'aime bien le gosse qui te montre du doigt sut ta photo. Genre "he, t'as vu ce gars qui nous prend en photo" ca fait un bon point d'entree ds la photo.
Ha... les mamans africaines, j'ai vu un programme sur ce theme il y a qlq jour; c'etait genial.

You have posted 1000 shots full of love and humanity here and they all reflect who is behind the lens--a watchful, perceptive, artistic and very warm human being with passion. This shot (which I am happy to see ;-) is wonderful... the softness of the scene, the gorgeous nutmeg-cinnamon-coffee hues, the earth tones that add a special warmth here... a beautiful work again.

I love the gazes, especially that of the little one as he pushes his fist into his mother's breast.

Tout un investissement sur TE, mais qui rapporte beaucoup de dividendes, surtout coté amélioration photographique, et ne pas négliger les contacts faits avec les copains trekearthiens.
Photo d'une qualité irréprochable, une scène familiale comme il en existe partout dans le monde,mais irrésistible, un arrière-plan chatoyant, ainsi qu'une intrusion comme semble indiquer le doigt pointé vers toi.
Une qualité de photo auquel j'aspire.

Superbe !
le choix de cette millième image te correspond bien,
douceur ,délicate harmonie des teintes mais aussi un besoin de contact avec les personnages en face de toi .
cette image est très intéressante car elle est divisée en deux,
la partie gauche : si tendre et humaine ,avec l’ attitude magnifique et intemporelle de cette femme.
La partie droite : beaucoup plus dans l’action et la réalité avec un style « photo reportage » et surtout le contact avec le photographe.
Continues l’ami à nous offrir des portraits aussi généreux !

What a milestone Eric! and how you have changed along the way, I remember a couple of years back you were the first that I noticed to really go infor that tight crop with portraits. Rememeber I once called you Mr. Tightcrop with your Ladakh images I believe.
You also have the guts to experiment, which is not always my taste but thats not the point, I dont stop by you everyday.
Had to stop here though, to congratulate you, a well chosen image to celebrate, Eric.

This is special..1000th post is a monumental achievement. This one has the elements of a photographer, the subject pointing at you as if say "hey, that man is taking your shot". Your gallery is superb and a lesson for me. I am unfortunate that I have not follow your work regularly & believe me, I've missed a lot. I will be following your pictures with wide eyed interest as you show us more parts of the world. There is no more joy than sharing the photographs & learning from them. Merci du cadeau pour la 1000ème, mais, cela serait plutôt à nous de te remercier de ta participation active au sein de TE. Tu nous fais découvrir des contrées lointaines, nous apprendre les us et coutumes de ces pays. Des portraits où la complicité entre le sujet et le photographe doit être complète, sous peine de tomber dans le voyeurisme.
Tu parcours le monde avec des bottes de sept lieues (puissance 10.000) et c'est toujours un réel plaisir de découvrir tes photographies.
Je te remercie de tes bien gentils mots, à ce propos, merci de rendre grâce à notre amie commune "Francine" qui fait oeuvre d'empathie également envers les défavorisés.
Ici, encore, tu nous transportes dans un monde différent (je ne sais pas si le regard, et particulièrement l'index pointé vers le photographe, est signe de plaisir ou de déplaisir.).

Monsieur, actually there's no need to add ANYMORE points to this photo, but what to do? ;-))
By all means this is a very nice one, although I am rather distracted by his hand, as if he warns you not to try and take pictures of him again. The background is stunning BTW, which gives the pictures a sort of peacefulness.

Oh, and of course I thought I was that special one, but big deception, it's Sasa ;-) Well, I can only agree with you about Sasa, so congratulations you both, and keep on shooting, Eric!!

J'arrive un peu tard pour les félicitations, mais bon : alors, c'était la millième ! incroyable d'arriver à un tel nombre et je doute d'accomplir un tel exploît, surtout avec cette qualité...
Loin d'avoir tout vu, bien sûr, dans ta galerie où je me perdrais facilement - celle-ci, entre autres, est très "vraie", pour un pays que j'ai aimé visiter et qui m'a touchée - j'aime bcp l'harmonie des couleurs et ce bel aspect humain,
Et voilà un bon programme, les 1OOO prochaines, comme tu l'écris ... Bon courage alors, nous t'attendons !

Hello Eric,
a double congratulations to you for:
1. 1000 fine pictures,
2. this superb photo. The warm atmosphere of it is based on the relation of the persons (an African madonna with child) but enhanced by the warm colours (closer observed different tones of one - brown - colour) and the classical triangle-composition. (Don't forget the essence of the picture: the eyes!) On my opinion a very, very good photo!

congratulations, I joined TE less than a month and I'm really fascinated so far with photos and motivation behind them. I respect all people who share their life via their photos here. what a way to mark this landmark! great job Eric...

though would have loved to see more details in the lower part of the frame ,especially the feet of baby being breast fed..

but anyway this is a lovely pic, very well conceived...

You have captured the beauty of the eyes, skin and color of the mother and the baby - Africans have that charm.

The photo has caught the emotions - of the mother worried about the hard future that awaits her children and of the kids oblivious to it.
