Photographer’s Note
Before heading to the Domestic Departures of the airstrip (WS1) I would like to show a view of the camp (main posting). You can see the tent we occupied during our stay. It was 2x2 meters dome tent, fitted with mattresses, pillows, linen and towels. In front (opposite site of the one shown) we had a small balcony with two small folding chairs and a small table. It was the perfect place for a little rest and a drink in between walks.
On the foreground right hand side are the shared ablutions, with a laundry sink, two washing basins and mirror in the middle. On each side of the structure there is a toilet with an open roof to the sky and “extremely” comfy/relaxing if you are not that type of noisy person, in particular during the silence of the night in the savanna!!!
The interesting thing about this camp is the fact that it is totally open to the wild with no fence whatsoever around it. Any wild animal, being it elephant, lion or, by its proximity to the river, hippopotamus can enter and visit it at any time, day or night. Please read here about Attila Szill (atus) experience at this same camp. So, it means that nights could be as exciting as any day walk and/or mokoro trip!
In WS2, the typical and well supplied fire station located near the Domestic Departures. I could not sort out the usage of the buffalo skull!
PS: After Harry’s (abulafia) comment about the airstrip, ***this one seem to be a bit more primitive***, I decided to post in WS3 a wide view of the “runway”, including a “big” 6 seats Cessna landing there.

Hi Antonio
What were you doing in Botswana?
Looks like a nice camp, and even with the possibility of nightly entertainment, who can ask for more:)
I like the colors of this picture, the 30D looks like something I should wish for.

Theres something very painting like about this photo - Im not sure what it is but the pastel like colours seem to help make this a nice piece of art. The subject is interesting - and it looks like a great experience.
Cheers!

Hi Antonio, excellent colour and sharp detail seen in this one. Very nice shot. The series itself that you are continuing is excellent. The closest I've come to an open camp with animals was when I camped (unawares late at night) in a cow pasture. Your animals here are probably a little wilder than the ones I woke up to.
Thanks, John

Cumprimentos, Daniel

Olá António.Paisagem tipicamente do "mato".

Hi Antonio,
Thanks for the photo and informative note. Very nice tent and washbasin.
Maybe I'll go there one day? But I would be scared of wild animals. Wonderful blue of the sky.

You travel a bit, Antonio, this camp is for work related or afterwork side trip? 2x2m is too small for you?
I like the color contrast of wood fence, blending into the environment. Nice pov and composition, and great Note. TFS

Ola Antonio,
The simple tidiness of the camp is well framed in the golden light. Attila's note brings home your point about the openess of the place. The two WS photos round out the details of the camp.

Eu gosto desta foto. Não me perguntes porquê, porque eu estou aqui à cinco minutos a tentar descobrir a razão. :) A composição é boa. Boa luz e boas cores. Estou a ver que a 30D, ainda que molhada, ainda faz boas fotos! ;)

Very interesting photo. Staying in that camp must have been a very interesting experience. The colors are very natural, which is a compliment. Though you probably have done some work on the photo, like most of us do, there is no evidence of processing. While looking at your photo, I looked at some others and read your comments. There is an education to be had here.
