The sun was descending, casting its golden light on the elephants which by this time were abandoning the river banks and the islands and slowly making their way to the dry and barren mainland.

This photo of the two elephants is spectacular. If you don't mind I will adopt it as a desktop image. I have a small collection of such magnificent nature photos, a few from the National Geographic, and a few others from Trekearth. Among the latter is a closeup you posted of a lion, an another is a closeup of a bull elephant from May Jayne.

Beyond the photo alone, your last critique of of one of my photos is thoughtful and beautifully written, but in the same sense as the note I wrote for GLOBALIZATION. Our minds obviously function alike.

Priče o slonovima koje gledam povremeno sa kanalima TV su vrlo uzbudljive i postao sam veliki navijač ovih velikih ali i krhkih životinja. U tome što slonče prati svoju mamu na tvojoj slici ja vidim pravu životnu dramu. Sa istim uzbudjenjem sam pogledao ovu scenu sa kojom si je ti snimio, dargi Dado. Puno pozdrava i sve najbolje!

Lep pogled na slonicu sa malim slonom koji se hlade u vodi ...
Kod nas tropske vrucine sa preko 40 C stepeni, sama pomisao na vodu i pogled za trenutak nas udalji od razmisljana na vreo dan.
Dobar trenutak snimka, ostrina i kontrast, lepe boje i fotografija.
Sve najbolje.

They have their freedom and they look great... Super image nothing better than being surrounded by these beautiful creatures. Excellent exposure with some superb detail and warm side lighting at late hour of the day really adds so much to the image. This certainly helps to convey the impact greatly. Good compo and viewpoint, crispy sharp and equally fabulous in contrast against the background. Great effort, a delightful shot.

I see that you these picture took with a 300mm lens, on a safty distance.
It is a very lovely image of the wonderful animals, a pity that sometimes poachers these elephants deads.
Here get we a very high quality image with a wonderful composition.
Excellent picture with a lovely sight on the area.
