Photographer’s Note
This is a little Brown-Crowned Tchagra (Tchagra australis) I came across while following the Kite I posted yesterday.
This bird is really small (I guess it stands less than 5cm tall in this photo), so I decided to show it as small as it was in its surroundings. Maybe I should have cropped closer....?
Its habitat is thick tangles and undergrowth in thornveld. Its call is a variable duet with basic notes of 'boo-boo' followed by a whistled 'whee-oo'. It s wingspan is 17cm.

A Henry another great picture of a bird. Good capture with great colors. I like the three with the little bird. But mabey you can try to crop the picture tighter. I think the picture is sharp enough for that. Very well done!

Great simplicity. Beautiful bird with great pose and nice brown tones. Very well framed. Technically excellent shot. I like this very much.

A good capture Henry, with such focus attention on the bird. I really like too the composition, and the plain sky background. Very good.

I'm learning a lot about african wildlife thanks to you. This is a well composed shot, and i especially like the diffuse background that doesn't suffer from the diagonal lines in some of your other shots. Great shot.

Almost like a "studio" shot this pix in the very elegant setting of the bird on the branch against the fine bluish background.
A great job fo the little Tchagra Henry

Une belle photo pour une très bonne mise en avant de l'oiseau par cette vue qui nous permet d'aprecier ses couleurs au niveau de sa queue.
Par contre pourquoi un cadrage dans ce sens ?

You might crop it tighter of course, but than you would loose the structure of the branch of the tree. And that branch does a lot to the shot. Very nice colors, nice sharp picture.

Prachtig man,
Good composition, Het is jammer dat je hem op de rug fotografeert, maar ik weet hoe moeilijk het soms is niet jij maar de bird bepaald hoe hij gaat zitten. Erg goed werk my compliments for it Henry

Beautiful framing and composition. The patterns of the branch all jutting out from the left is an excellent idea. With some bamboos, it would like a typical Chinese painting cards. Beautiful.

Great capture of this little brown fellow ;-) I like the cloudy background you used for this shot and texture of the branches. Good work as usual Henry.

Great shot Henry. I do think that a tighter cropping would work a bit better here. I really enjoy the composition with the branches. Your trip in the game reserve must have been amazing.

A beautiful composition, Henry. Well framed, with the branch hanging down and the small bird. Lovely colours on the bird. Well captured.

I believe you framed it perfectly Henry, with the dead limb on which the bird is perched adding a wonderful element to the composition. I appreciate the juxtapositoin of the bird against the angularity of the tree limb all against the soft tones of sky and clouds with the hint of foliage at the top. I also appreciate the fact you offer us a view of this bird from the back rather than the more ordinary presentation of the bird's breast facing the camera. I like this photo very much. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Nice photo...maybe a bit closer crop would be nicer - cut out some from the bottom leaving the top leaves for composition...
