Un mokoro est une sorte de canoë couramment utilisé dans le delta de l'Okavango au Botswana, propulsé dans les eaux peu profondes des canaux, par un homme se tenant à l'arrière et poussant sur une longue perche
Les mokoros sont fabriqués de façon traditionnelle en creusant les troncs d'ébène ou de kigélia (arbre à saucisses) et à l'heure actuelle en fibre de verre. Ils constituent un moyen très populaire pour les touristes pour visiter le delta, même s'ils sont toujours un moyen de transport très pratique pour les autochtones pour se déplacer dans le marais

A mokoro is a type of canoe commonly used in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. It is propelled through the shallow waters of the delta by standing in the stern and pushing with a pole, in the same manner as punting.
Makoros are traditionally made by digging out the trunk of a large straight tree, such as an ebony tree or Kigelia tree. Modern makoros, however, are increasingly made of fibre-glass. Makoro safaris are a popular way for tourists to visit the delta, much of which is in national parks, but the boats are still a practical means of transport for residents to move around the swamp.

hi patrick,
the sun has created a beautiful atmosphere here with the light spreading across the sky and reflecting these wonderful pastel colours in the water. the silhouetted vegetation is positioned perfectly and leads the viewers eye towards the figures in the little boats. this is a lovely image filled with a very tranquil mood.

Another beautiful Okavango water-scape Patrick. A location I have yet to visit and one I shall definitely try and get to soon. Your shot is so evocative of the African bush and taken at a lovely time of day. I can imagine the frogs beginning to 'sing' and the other night sounds of the wild slowly starting up. Just when I think your people shots cannot be beaten, you come up with such a majestic landscape, thus showing your skill in both genres. The golden and silver tones are pure magic and I love the textures that the long reeds make, both in reality and in reflections.
