Amongst the hundreds of elephants we saw along the Chobe River there were the very young which were always protected and flanked by their older sisters, aunties and mother.
We never saw a little one being in danger of being trampled by the larger elephants whether these be running to water, swimming across the river, feeding or taking a mud bath or dust "shower".

This small elephant so safe with the elder is so sweet. Beautiful shot. It seems that the proverb to move like an elephant in the China shop is not truth. I am looking forward to seeing the scene like this mysetl in September.

The quality is not perfect. Probably, there was a big distance between you and elefants at the moment. But I like this family portrait. Like a human. Warm feelings, excellent capture! TFS!

What a beautiful family of elephants. Animals also have so much emotions and how well protect their kith and kin. Love the baby elephant protected by the older ones. Excellent colors and sharpness.

The famous elephant family, well known throughout TE.. I loved them, they are like a real family consisting of parents+two children. Sharpness on the elephants, and the water seen enough in the foreground, your shot is great also. Thanks for sharing Klaudio.. Have a nice week-end.

Astonishingly handsome and proud creatures! This is an endearing family portrait, captured by a sympathetic naturalist, sensitive to the plight of the pachyderm creatures. In your note you list only female family members as being intensely protective. Is this the actual case, do the fathers and brothers show less loyalty, is it only the maternal interest that becomes dominant. I know that they are extremely social creatures, but I don't think they are monogamous?!? I imagine a healthy bull elephant wanting to sire a healthy number of offspring, and indeed by a harem of mates.
Warm regards, Klaudio,

The baby has no choice of becoming a well brought up child, surrounded by such an attentive common aura!
Touching scenery indeed.
You were right about the filming of slaves cabins at Boone Hall Plantation.

very beautiful this image of a family of elephants. I liked the framing with the strip of water and the land crossing the compo. beautiful light. I intend to know this place soon as possible, I heard about a tour with a truck crossing many countries in this region.
