Photographer's Note

Chobe National Park in northern Botswana is one of the most visited in the area and Botswanas first NP. It is situated at a fair distance to the famous Victoria Falls and the two "tourist attractions" can easily be combined. The National Park is also famous for its elephants coming down to the Chobe delta in the late afternoon for at refreshing bath.

However during our evening cruise on the river we met this Lizard. Its a Nile Monitor Lizard or Varan as it sometimes is called. It can be up to 9 ft and it is common in most parts of Africa except the dry areas. If you meet one it can not only bite, but also use its tale to whip.
