Photographer’s Note
Another shot of those teenage springboks we spotted leaping and jumping around in the morning, obviously having fun, since nothing was chasing them. I caught this one in mid-pronk - a straight-up jump that is unique (or almost unique) to the springbok.
It also expresses my own feelings, as we are leaving early tomorrow morning for a two-week trip up the Pacific NW coast to Victoria, and down through the I-5 corridor. I will have a laptop and may check in from time to time with a photo along the way.
Technical: Cropping to position the animal here; minimal High Pass sharpening.

Wow, Dan,
that's a cool shot! I love how you stopped him in mid-air. Nicely off centered, good detail and bokeh and just a really fun shot. Many thanks and have a great trip!

hello daniel
fantastic timing in this shot. not so sure about the exposure though. seems a tad darkish: the whole scene. could be, you had the aperture too narrow? just thinking aloud.

hi Dan,
I'd also be jumping for you if I had an upcoming trip to the Pacific NW :) love the shot, the title describes very well the mood it creates, and I agree that the timing was perfect to freeze the motion. I see what Kristaps is saying about darkness, but that's something that should be easy to adjust with leves. other than that - great fun shot, good to see something so full of energy on Monday morning (yawn) :)
with best regards,
Kristine

Dan,
I can understand that you fell about the same mood as this springbok although the reason for the animal was probably some sexual hormone boost leading to special live satisfaction. Are you sure that there weren't any femal sprinbok to be impressed by this jump? ;-) by the way, did you paln in getting him doing this or was it just a random moment that you got it right with this timing?
Have a good trip and don't forget that we will miss you in Point Reyes!

Hey Dan,
First, have a rejuvenating trip to the Pacific North West. I expect to see some extraordinary photos.
I like this image very much, complemented by a note that adds two words to my vocabulary. I can say, "My 3-year old grandson has been attempting to do a pronk, but has not been able to get off the ground, no springbok is he!"
Warm regards,
Bulent
