Photographer's Note
As promised when posting my first shot – Fortaleza – here a view of the shanty town surrounding the Former Franciscan monastery. It’s quite an awesome view to discover this kind of landscape, especially on the coast of Luanda.
It could seem quite nice to live so close from the sea but I let you imagine what it is to live there especially when you have heavy rains fom December to march… In Angola, these kinds of shanty towns are called Musseque, referring to the red land where they take place. It is probably more than 4 million people who live in such conditions.
On the background, you can see a kind of tower which is a strange unfinished monument dedicated to the father of the Angolan independence from Portugal in the 70’s : Agostinho Neto.
Let me know what you think of the composition, lights and contrasts.

Nice shot! I like your angle of shooting, but I would have moved the camera a bit more to the right as the slope and grass is a bit distracting. The view looks very nice, details are good and I like how most of the image is in gray tones. Now, do you have a shot or shots from inside the shanty town? Good work nonetheless!

A great documentary shot, particularly side-by-side with your description. Technically very good: well exposed, well composed and sharp. It really gives me a good idea of what this place looks like. Would love to see more.

Perfect metering despite the difficult lighting conditions and very well composed shot!

I like the composition. I think you have nailed the contrast and light perfectly. I will crop a bit off the top. Very well done.

I like this picture because it is very informative. Now I wonder how does the city center of Luanda look like... :-)
